The Old Harbhajan Babaji Mandir is a unique and deeply spiritual site located near Nathang Valley in East Sikkim. This shrine is dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh, an Indian Army soldier who tragically died in 1968 near the Nathula Pass. He is revered by soldiers and locals alike, who believe that his spirit continues to protect the region and its people.According to legend, after Baba Harbhajan Singh went missing, his spirit appeared in a dream, guiding search parties to his body and expressing his desire for a memorial. The original shrine, now known as the Old Baba Mandir, was built near the site where he was stationed. Today, visitors can climb the 50 stairs to reach the bunker where Baba Harbhajan Singh served.Devotees often leave bottles of water at the temple, believing they will be blessed with healing properties. Personal items believed to belong to Baba, such as his uniform and boots, are also on display, further adding to the mystical atmosphere. The temple holds significant emotional and historical value, particularly for the Indian armed forces.
