Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from Jomsom, which is the nearest major town. From Jomsom, take the road heading towards Kagbeni. The distance is approximately 10 kilometers and the drive takes about 30 minutes. The road is scenic but can be narrow and winding, so drive carefully. Once you reach Kagbeni, look for signs directing you to Muktinath. The ashram is located about 7 kilometers from Kagbeni, and you can either continue driving or park your car and walk the remaining distance.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Jomsom, you can take a local bus to Kagbeni. Buses run frequently throughout the day, and the fare is typically around 100 NPR (Nepalese Rupees). Once you arrive in Kagbeni, you can either walk to Muktinath Ashram, which is about 7 kilometers away, or hire a local taxi or jeep for a more comfortable ride for approximately 500 NPR.

• Jeep (Shared Taxi)

  Shared jeeps from Jomsom to Kagbeni are available and can be a quicker option. The fare is generally around 200 NPR per person. Upon reaching Kagbeni, you can hire a local jeep to take you to Muktinath Ashram, which will cost about 1000 NPR for the short trip (this can be shared with other passengers if available).

• Walking

  For the adventurous, you can hike from Kagbeni to Muktinath Ashram. The trek is approximately 7 kilometers and takes about 2-3 hours. The trail is relatively straightforward, but make sure to wear good hiking shoes and carry enough water and snacks. The scenic views of the surrounding mountains make this a rewarding option.
