Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, take the nearest highway (I-94 or US-20) to the Porter area. From I-94, take exit 26 towards IN-49 N. Continue on IN-49 N for approximately 2 miles. You will arrive at 1215 N State Rd 49, Porter, IN 46304, which is the main entrance to Indiana Dunes National Park. There is no admission fee for most areas of the park.

  • Public Transportation (Train and Bus)

    Take the South Shore Line train from Chicago to the Dune Park station. The train ride takes about 1 hour. From the Dune Park station, you can catch the local bus (the V-Line) which services the area around Indiana Dunes National Park. Make sure to check the V-Line schedule in advance as it may not run frequently. The bus fare is typically around $1.50.

  • Biking

    For those who enjoy biking, there are bike paths available that connect various areas of Indiana Dunes National Park.
