If you are starting from the downtown area of Indianapolis, walk to the nearest bus stop and take the IndyGo Route 8 (Washington Street route). Get off at the 'East Vermont Street' stop. From there, walk east on Vermont Street, which will turn into Lockerbie Street. Continue walking for about 5 minutes until you reach the James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home, located at 528 Lockerbie St.

If you are staying in the downtown area, you can walk to the museum. Head northeast from the center of downtown, towards the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and East Street. Continue walking northeast on Massachusetts Avenue for about 10-15 minutes. You will pass several shops and cafes. When you reach the intersection with Lockerbie Street, turn left and walk a few blocks until you reach 528 Lockerbie Street, the museum will be on your left.
