If you are in Downtown Indianapolis, you can easily walk to the James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home & Visitor Center. Start at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument located at the center of Monument Circle. Head northeast on N Meridian St toward E Maryland St. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with E Washington St. Turn left onto E Washington St and continue walking until you reach N Park Ave. Turn right onto N Park Ave and walk north until you reach E 6th St. Finally, turn left onto E 6th St, and continue until you reach Lockerbie St. The museum is located at 528 Lockerbie St, just a short walk from the main downtown area.

From downtown, walk to the nearest bus stop at the corner of N Illinois St and E Market St. Board Bus Route 8 (Washington St) heading east.
