Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, begin your journey in the central area of Lake Toba, such as in Tuk Tuk. From Tuk Tuk, head south on the main road (Jalan Lintas Sumatera) towards Samosir Island. Continue driving until you reach the junction near Sianjur Mula Mula. At this junction, look for the signpost indicating 'Gunung Pusuk Buhit'. Turn onto the road leading to Gunung Pusuk Buhit. This route should take about 1 hour, depending on traffic conditions. Make sure to follow the signs and GPS directions to your destination: JM22+6J8, Ginolat, Sianjur Mula Mula, Samosir Regency.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start by taking a local bus or minivan from Tuk Tuk to the town of Sianjur Mula Mula. Buses frequently depart from the main bus station and the fare is usually around IDR 20,000 (approximately $1.50). Upon reaching Sianjur Mula Mula, you can hire a local ojek (motorcycle taxi) to take you directly to Gunung Pusuk Buhit for about IDR 30,000 - IDR 50,000 ($2 - $3.50) depending on negotiation. Ensure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.

• Hiking

  If you prefer an adventurous route, consider hiking from Sianjur Mula Mula. Once in Sianjur Mula Mula, you can ask locals for directions to the trailhead leading up to Gunung Pusuk Buhit. The hike is approximately 3-4 kilometers and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the summit. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes, carry plenty of water, and start early in the day to enjoy the views and avoid the afternoon heat.
