Walking
Start from the Ames City Hall, located at 515 Clark Ave, Ames, IA 50010. Head north on Clark Ave for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with 6th St. Turn left (west) onto 6th St and continue walking for about 0.3 miles. You will see a park on your left. Enter the park, and the Site of the First House in Ames Historical Marker is located within the park area, close to the edge of the park along the walking path.

If you are at the Iowa State University campus, start at the Memorial Union. Head east on Lincoln Way for about 0.6 miles until you reach the intersection with 6th St. Turn left onto 6th St and continue for about 0.2 miles. After passing through the park entrance on your left, park your bike and walk towards the historical marker which is located along the path in the park.

Take the CyRide bus service. Board the Orange Line at any nearby stop. Get off at the '6th and Clark' stop. Walk north on Clark Ave for about 0.3 miles until you reach 6th St. Turn left onto 6th St and walk for about 0.3 miles. The park entrance will be on your left. Once inside the park, the Site of the First House in Ames Historical Marker is located close to the walking path.
