Getting There

  • Walking

    From the heart of East Village, head west on E Grand Ave toward E 4th St. Continue on E Grand Ave for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with E 6th St. Turn left onto E 6th St and walk south for about 0.2 miles. You will pass the Iowa State Capitol on your right. Continue to follow E 6th St until you reach the intersection with E Locust St. Turn right onto E Locust St and walk for another 0.4 miles. The S-36 Submarine Memorial will be on your left side, located at the entrance of the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum, just past the intersection with E 14th St.

    If you prefer to use public transportation, you can take the DART bus. Find the nearest bus stop on E Grand Ave. Board the Route 6 bus heading towards the downtown area. Ride for about 10 minutes and get off at the stop near the Iowa State Capitol. From there, walk south on E 6th St for about 0.2 miles, then turn right onto E Locust St and walk approximately 0.4 miles to reach the S-36 Submarine Memorial.
