Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Athlone Town Centre, exit the shopping complex and head south on Main Street. Continue walking until you reach the junction with Pearse Street. Turn left onto Pearse Street and follow it until you see the entrance to Saint Peter's Terrace on your right. Walk up Saint Peter's Terrace, and Athlone Castle Visitor Centre will be on your left, clearly marked with signs.

    If you are at the Athlone Train Station, exit the station and turn right onto the main road. Walk straight down this road until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the R446 (N6). Continue straight until you see the sign for Athlone Castle Visitor Centre. Turn left onto Saint Peter's Terrace, and the centre will be on your left.

    From the Luan Gallery, exit the gallery and head west along the riverbank, following the River Shannon. Walk towards the bridge, passing the park area. Once you reach the bridge, cross over it and continue straight until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the R446 (N6) and then turn left onto Saint Peter's Terrace. Athlone Castle Visitor Centre will be on your left.
