Getting There

Walking
From Athlone Train Station or Bus Station (approximately 1 km), walk south on Southern Station Road, then turn left onto Sean Costello Street. Continue onto Church Street, then turn right onto St. Peter's Terrace. The castle will be on your left. This walk takes about 10-15 minutes. Alternatively, from Athlone Town Centre, walk along Church Street and the River Shannon Walk.

From Athlone Train Station or Arcadia Crescent (Citylink stop), take the A1 or A2 bus towards Bealnamulla. Get off at the Castle Street stop, which is directly beside the castle. The bus fare is approximately €3 - €5.

From Dublin, take the M6 motorway to Exit 11 for Athlone town center. Follow signs toward Northgate Street, turn right at the traffic lights, and cross the bridge. The castle will be visible on your right. Paid parking is available in St. Peter's Square and Connolly Street Car Park. Parking rates vary, typically around €2-3 per hour.
