    If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Castletownbere. Head southwest on the N71 towards the Beara Peninsula. Continue on this road until you reach the ferry terminal at the end of the road. Follow the signs for the Bere Island Ferry, which departs regularly from the pier. The ferry ride takes about 20 minutes and costs approximately €10 for a round trip. Once you arrive at Bere Island, follow the signs to Ballinakilla. The Bere Island Heritage & Information Centre is located at Ballinakilla Bere Island, Co. Cork, P75 W660, just a short walk from the ferry terminal.
