Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start your journey in Connemara National Park and head towards Clifden. From Clifden, take the N59 south towards Galway. After approximately 30 minutes, look for signs to Cleggan and take the turn onto the R341 towards Cleggan. Continue on this road until you reach Cleggan village, where you will find a ferry terminal. Here, you can take a ferry to Inishbofin Island, which operates regularly but check the schedule in advance for times. Once you arrive at Inishbofin, you can either walk or hire a bike to reach East End Beach, located on the eastern side of the island.

    For those using public transportation, your journey will begin by taking a bus or train from your location to Clifden. Bus Éireann operates services to Clifden from various cities. From Clifden, walk to the ferry terminal in Cleggan, which is about 15 minutes away on foot. Take the ferry to Inishbofin Island.
