Car
From the main Glendalough car park, head towards the Upper Lake. Follow the signs for the Wicklow Way hiking trail. The trail starts at the Upper Lake car park. Continue on the Wicklow Way for approximately 4 kilometers (about 1 hour of walking). You will pass by scenic views and through woodland. Look for the signpost pointing towards Lough Ouler as you approach the area; it will be on your left. The path will lead you down a steep incline towards the lough.
Public Transportation to Glendalough
If you are traveling from Dublin, take the bus from Dublin Busaras (Bus Station) to Glendalough. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Glendalough, head towards the main car park and follow the directions provided for the car route. Make sure to check the bus schedules for your return journey.
Hiking
If you are already in Glendalough and prefer to hike, start your journey from the Lower Lake. Follow the trail that leads to the Upper Lake, which takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you reach the Upper Lake, continue on the Wicklow Way as described previously. Remember to wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring water as the hike can be steep in some areas.
