Polle di Malbacco: Madonna's Well
Discover the natural beauty of Polle di Malbacco: cascading waterfalls and crystal-clear pools in the Apuan Alps near Seravezza, Italy.
Polle di Malbacco, or Madonna's Well, offers a unique natural escape in the heart of Tuscany. Located near Seravezza, in the province of Lucca, these natural pools are formed by the Versilia River as it flows down from Mount Altissimo. The area is characterized by a series of waterfalls and pools with strikingly clear, cold water, surrounded by lush forests and smooth rocks perfect for sunbathing. The pools are a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, especially during the hot summer months. The icy water provides a welcome relief from the heat, and the natural beauty of the area makes it an ideal spot for relaxation and recreation. Visitors can swim in the pools, sunbathe on the rocks, or simply enjoy the scenery. The most famous pool is the "Pozzo della Madonna," known for its picturesque waterfall and emerald-green water. While the area is beautiful, it's worth noting that the water is very cold year-round. It is advisable to wear appropriate footwear for hiking on uneven terrain.
Local tips
