Discover more about Campo del Sole

Campo del Sole, located in Tuoro sul Trasimeno on the shores of Lake Trasimeno, is an original open-air museum that invites contemplation and artistic appreciation. Designed by the renowned artist Pietro Cascella, with contributions from Mauro Berrettini and Cordelia von den Steinen, this unique site takes the form of a large spiral composed of 27 columns adorned with sculptures. Each column, crafted from local gray sandstone called “Serena stone,” stands approximately 4.5 meters high. These sculptures, created by Italian and international artists, converge towards a central table, a solar symbol representing encounter and connection. The design fosters a sense of community and reflection, offering a space for dialogue without barriers. Campo del Sole is not tied to a specific historical event but embodies the historical depth of the region. The verticality of the columns evokes a contemporary Stonehenge, creating a landscape reference point. Visitors can wander through the park, taking in the views of Lake Trasimeno and the Umbrian countryside.
