Discover more about Cascate del Mulino-Hot Spring

Cascate del Mulino, also known as the Waterfalls of the Mill, is a captivating natural wonder where warm, sulphurous waters flow freely over a series of terraced rock formations, creating a unique and accessible thermal bathing experience. Located just outside the spa town of Saturnia, these hot springs offer a delightful alternative to the more formal (and costly) spa resorts in the area. The waters originate from an underground source and maintain a constant temperature of 37°C (98.6°F) year-round. Over centuries, the continuous flow has sculpted the travertine rock into a series of natural pools, each offering a slightly different temperature and depth. The mineral-rich waters are known for their therapeutic properties, said to benefit the skin, digestive system, and circulatory system. The setting is equally enchanting, with the cascading waterfalls framed by the rolling hills of the Tuscan Maremma. The old mill, from which the falls derive their name, adds a touch of rustic charm to the scene. While there are no formal facilities like changing rooms or showers, the natural beauty and the allure of the thermal waters make it a must-visit destination. Be prepared for a wild experience and come already dressed in your bathing suit. According to legend, the springs were created by a lightning bolt thrown by Jupiter at Saturn, explaining the area's fertile and peaceful nature. Whether you believe the myth or not, the Cascate del Mulino offers a memorable and rejuvenating experience, connecting visitors with nature and the ancient traditions of thermal bathing.
