Getting There

  • Walking

    If you're starting from the Colosseum, exit the Colosseum area and head northwest on Via di San Giovanni in Laterano toward Via della Polveriera. Continue straight onto Via di Villa Peretti, and then take a left onto Via dei Fori Imperiali. Walk for about 15 minutes, passing the Roman Forum on your right. You will reach Piazza Venezia; from there, locate the large monument, Altare della Patria. The Cordonata Capitolina is located just to the right of this monument, leading up to the Capitoline Hill.

  • Metro

    If you are near a Metro station, take Metro Line B (Blue Line) at any station towards Rebibbia or Jonio. Get off at the Cavour station. From Cavour, walk west on Via dei Fori Imperiali for about 10-15 minutes until you reach Piazza Venezia. Once at Piazza Venezia, locate the Altare della Patria monument, and the Cordonata Capitolina will be to its right, leading you up to the Capitoline Hill.

  • Bus

    Look for the nearest bus stop in Rome, and take bus number 70 or 87. If you board bus number 70, get off at the 'Piazza Venezia' stop. If you're on bus number 87, you can also get off at the same stop. Once you are at Piazza Venezia, find the Altare della Patria monument. The Cordonata Capitolina is located immediately to the right of this monument.

    From the Pantheon, head out and turn left onto Via della Rotonda. Continue straight until you reach Piazza Navona. Keep walking straight out of the square, and take a right onto Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Walk for about 10 minutes until you reach Piazza Venezia. The Cordonata Capitolina is located to the right of the Altare della Patria monument.
