From the main square in San Gimignano (Piazza della Cisterna), head towards the historic center. Walk towards the Porta San Matteo, which is a large stone archway that leads out of the town. Continue straight on the road until you reach the intersection with Strada Comunale di S. Galgano. Turn left onto Strada Comunale di S. Galgano and follow the road for about 6 kilometers. You will pass through beautiful countryside and may see signs for the Spada nella roccia di San Galgano. The site will be on your right side along the road.

If you're near the San Gimignano bike rental shops, rent a bicycle for a quick ride. Start at the main square (Piazza della Cisterna) and head out through the Porta San Matteo. Once you are on Strada Comunale di S. Galgano, continue straight for about 6 kilometers. Cycling through the scenic countryside will make your journey enjoyable. Keep an eye out for signs pointing to the Spada nella roccia di San Galgano on your right.

From San Gimignano, walk to the nearest bus stop located at Piazza della Libertà. Take the bus that heads towards Chiusdino. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Chiusdino bus stop, exit and walk towards Strada Comunale di S. Galgano. From there, it is a 1.5-kilometer walk, following the signs to Spada nella roccia di San Galgano, which will be on your right side.
