San Silvestro: A Hidden Gem in Venice

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to San Silvestro in Venice, start by heading towards the A4 motorway. Depending on your starting point in the Venetian Riviera, you'll merge onto the A57 or A4. Follow signs for 'Venezia' and take the exit towards 'Venezia Centro'. Once you enter Venice, you will need to park your car at one of the public garages, such as 'Piazzale Roma'. From Piazzale Roma, walk towards the Grand Canal and take the Vaporetto (water bus) Line 1 or 2 to 'Rialto'. From Rialto, you can reach San Silvestro by walking through the charming streets of Venice, following signs or using a map. It is located at Rio Terà S. Silvestro, approximately a 10-minute walk from Rialto.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can start your journey by taking a train to Venezia Santa Lucia station. Once you arrive, exit the station and head towards the Vaporetto (water bus) stop located just outside. From here, take Line 1 towards 'Lido' or Line 2 towards 'Rialto'. Get off at the 'Rialto' stop. From Rialto, you can easily walk to San Silvestro by navigating through the narrow streets. Look for signs pointing to 'San Silvestro' or use a map application to guide you. The walk should take about 10 minutes.

• Vaporetto Only

  If you are already in Venice and wish to avoid walking too much, you can take the Vaporetto directly to 'San Silvestro'. Depending on your location, board a Vaporetto Line that connects to 'San Silvestro'. Line 1 or Line 2 typically serve this route. Note that you will need to purchase a Vaporetto ticket, which costs around €7.50 for a single ride or consider a day pass if you plan on using it multiple times.
