Discover more about Bath Fountain Hotel and Spa

The Bath Fountain Hotel and Spa is a hidden gem in the tranquil parish of St. Thomas, Jamaica, offering a blend of natural wellness and rustic comfort. The hotel is known for its mineral-rich waters, attracting tourists seeking relaxation, therapeutic healing, and cultural immersion. The mineral spring was discovered in the 1690s by a runaway slave named Jacob. The spring flows from two rocks behind the hotel. The water is rich in sulphur and lime and is believed to be very good for the treatment of rheumatic ailments and skin diseases. The active elements in the water are lime, sulphur and magnesium and while the mineral concentrations are not as high as those found in the Milk River or Rockfort Mineral baths, it's believed that the naturally-occurring high temperatures provide additional healing power. The hotel, which opened in 1947, features 16 rooms, some with balconies overlooking the spring-fed stream and tropical forestry. The restaurant features Jamaican fare. There are bath cubicles with Roman style tubs or whirlpools, offering complete privacy. It is suggested that bathers stay in the water for 15-20 minutes to derive full benefit. Nearby attractions include the Bath Botanical Gardens, founded in 1779, Reggae Falls, Lyssons Beach, and Morant Bay Lighthouse.
