Chikugo River Lift Bridge: A Testament to Engineering and History

The Chikugo River Lift Bridge stands as a proud symbol of engineering ingenuity and historical significance. The bridge spans 507.2 meters and features a movable central section that rises 23 meters to allow vessels to pass.When the Saga Railway Line ceased operations in 1987, the bridge was closed. However, due to strong local support, it was reopened in 1996 as a pedestrian bridge, preserving it as a beloved local symbol.
