Getting There

  • Car

    From central Chikugo, head northwest on Route 3 (Fukuoka Prefectural Road 3) towards Fukuoka City. Continue on this road for approximately 20 kilometers. Take the exit toward Sawara Ward and follow the signs for Ishigama. After exiting, turn left onto Ishigama Street and then right onto the road leading to Karan Waterfall. There is limited parking available near the waterfall, and it is free of charge.

  • Train and Walk

    Take the Nishitetsu Omuta Line from Chikugo to Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station. Transfer to the Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line and travel to Chikugo-Funagoya Station. From Chikugo-Funagoya Station, take a local bus heading to Ishigama (be sure to check the bus schedule as they may not run frequently). The bus fare is approximately 300 yen. Get off at Ishigama bus stop and walk approximately 15 minutes to reach Karan Waterfall. Follow the signs along the path leading to the waterfall.

    From Chikugo, you can take a local bus towards Fukuoka City. Look for buses heading to Sawara Ward or Ishigama. The fare is about 700 yen. Once you arrive at the Ishigama bus stop, you will need to walk for about 10-15 minutes to reach Karan Waterfall. Follow the main road until you see the signs directing you to the waterfall.
