Chikugo-Funagoya Station is more than just a transit point; it's a gateway to exploring the scenic and cultural richness of the Chikugo region in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Serving as a key station on both the Kagoshima Main Line and the Kyushu Shinkansen, it connects travelers to various destinations within Kyushu.Originally opened as Funagoya Station in 1928, the station underwent significant changes with the introduction of the Kyushu Shinkansen in 2011, including relocation and renaming to Chikugo-Funagoya Station. The station now comprises two separate facilities: the Kagoshima Main Line station and the Shinkansen station, connected by a sheltered walkway. The Kagoshima Main Line station features a modern concrete building with a waiting room and ticket window, while the Shinkansen station boasts a side and an island platform serving three elevated tracks.Travelers can find a tourist information center at the entrance of the Kagoshima Main Line station, offering guidance on local attractions and events. Coin lockers are available at the Shinkansen station. Nearby attractions include Funagoya Onsen, known for its iron-containing mineral springs, and HAWKS Baseball Park Chikugo.
