Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Dewa. Head west on Route 112. Continue straight for about 30 minutes until you reach the intersection with Route 345. Turn left onto Route 345, and after about 15 minutes, you'll see signs for Dewasanzan Shrine. Follow the signs, and you'll arrive at the shrine. Note that parking is available near the shrine, but it may incur a fee of around 500 yen.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start at Dewa Station. Take the local bus bound for Haguro. The bus departs approximately every hour, and the fare is around 600 yen. The journey will take about 40 minutes. Get off at the Haguro Sancho stop. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to Dewasanzan Shrine. Follow the signs pointing toward the shrine to guide you along the path.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Dewa. This is a convenient option, especially if you're traveling in a group. The taxi ride should take about 30 minutes and cost approximately 3,000 yen, depending on traffic. Just provide the driver with the address: Haguroyama-33 Haguromachi Touge, Tsuruoka, Yamagata 997-0211.
