Car
If you are driving to Hakone-en, start by navigating to the Hakone area. From the Hakone-Yumoto Station, take Route 1 towards Moto-Hakone. Follow signs for Lake Ashi and continue until you reach Hakone-en at 139 Motohakone, Hakone, Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa 250-0522. There is parking available at Hakone-en, but be aware that there may be a parking fee of around 500-1000 JPY depending on the duration of your stay.
Public Transportation
To reach Hakone-en using public transportation, start from Hakone-Yumoto Station, which is accessible via the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. From Hakone-Yumoto, take the Hakone Tozan Railway to Gora Station. At Gora Station, transfer to the Hakone Tozan Cable Car and ride to Sounzan Station. From Sounzan, take the Hakone Ropeway towards Togendai Station. Get off at Togendai and transfer to the sightseeing cruise on Lake Ashi. Disembark at Hakone-en. The entire journey will cost approximately 2000-3000 JPY depending on your starting point and the routes taken.
