Car
If you're driving from central Hitachi, get on Route 6 heading south toward Mito. Continue on Route 6 for approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) until you reach the junction with Route 50. Follow signs for Route 50 towards Tokyo. After about 20 kilometers (12 miles), merge onto the Joban Expressway (E6) toward Tokyo. Take the exit for Ueno (Exit 1-2) and follow signs for Chiyoda City. Once in Chiyoda, follow local signs to Hijiri Bridge located at 4 Chome Kanda Surugadai. Parking may be available nearby, but be prepared to pay for parking fees which typically range from 200 to 500 yen per hour.

To reach Hijiri Bridge using public transportation, start by taking the JR Joban Line from Hitachi Station to Ueno Station. This journey typically takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. Once at Ueno Station, transfer to the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and head towards Asakusa Station. Get off at Kanda Station (which is just one stop away). From Kanda Station, it’s about a 10-minute walk to Hijiri Bridge. You can find the route on Google Maps or ask for directions at the station if needed. Be sure to check the train schedules as they may vary, and a ticket from Hitachi to Ueno costs about 1,500 yen.

If you prefer to travel by bus, take a local bus from Hitachi to Mito. From Mito, catch an express bus to Tokyo Station. The total journey can take about 2 to 2.5 hours. Once you arrive at Tokyo Station, you can take the JR Yamanote Line or the Tokyo Metro to Kanda Station. The walk to Hijiri Bridge from Kanda Station is roughly 10 minutes. The bus fare from Hitachi to Mito is around 1,200 yen, and the express bus to Tokyo may cost up to 2,500 yen.
