The temple has faced numerous challenges throughout its history, including fires up until the Meiji era and complete destruction during the Boshin War in 1868. Despite these setbacks, Ryugenji has been rebuilt and restored over time, with ongoing reconstruction efforts to this day. In 2004, the Main Hall, with its thatched roof, was registered as a Tangible Cultural Property by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan.Visitors can explore the temple grounds, taking in the traditional Japanese architecture and serene atmosphere.
