Car
If you are driving from the center of Kai, head west on Route 20 towards Koshu. Continue on Route 20 for about 15 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Route 140. Turn right onto Route 140 and continue for approximately 6 kilometers. You will see signs for the Kaiyamato Rest Area on your left. There is ample parking available on-site, and no parking fees are required.
Public Transportation
Start at the nearest train station in Kai, such as the Kai Station. Take the JR Chuo Line train towards Otsuki Station. After arriving at Otsuki Station, transfer to the Fujikyu Railway and take the Fujisan Limited Express towards Kawaguchiko. Get off at the 'Kawaguchiko Station.' From there, take a local bus heading towards the Kaiyamato Rest Area. The bus ride will take approximately 25 minutes. Be sure to check the local bus schedule for departure times. The bus fare is around 500 yen.
