Car
From Kai, start by heading north on Route 20 (Chuo Highway). Continue for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the town of Ome. Take the Ome IC exit and follow the signs to Mitake Gorge. The drive should take around 45 minutes depending on traffic. There is parking available near the gorge, but it may incur a small fee of around 500 yen.
Public Transportation
From Kai Station, take the JR Chuo Line towards Tokyo. Transfer at Tachikawa Station to the JR Ome Line. Ride the Ome Line to Mitake Station, which takes roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Mitake Station, you can either walk (about 30 minutes) or take a local bus (around 200 yen) to Mitake Gorge. The bus runs frequently, so you won't have to wait long.
