Though the house has been reconstructed on a smaller scale, the remaining parts, including the storehouse and earthen walls, evoke the feel of a middle-class retainer's residence. The garden, though called “dry spring” (kensen) because its pond is not filled with water, is designed as a strolling landscape to be appreciated in all seasons.
