Car
If you're driving from Tokyo, take the Tohoku Expressway heading north. You will merge onto the Kan-Etsu Expressway towards Niigata. Continue until you reach the Nikko interchange, then take Route 121 towards Nikko. Follow Route 121 for approximately 30 minutes, then turn left onto Route 146. After about 10 minutes, follow signs to Kirifuri Plateau. Note that parking is available at the plateau.
Train and Bus
For those using public transportation, start by taking the JR Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Utsunomiya Station (approximately 50 minutes). Transfer to the JR Nikko Line and take a train to Nikko Station (about 40 minutes). Upon arrival at Nikko Station, you can take the Tobu Bus bound for Kirifuri Plateau. The bus ride will take around 30 minutes. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance as services may vary.
