Car
From Tokyo, take the Tohoku Expressway (東北自動車道) towards Utsunomiya. Once you reach Utsunomiya, transfer to the Nikko Utsunomiya Road (日光宇都宮道路) and continue until you reach the exit for Nikko. Follow the signs to Nikko city and then head towards Yumoto area. Drive to Lake Yunoko, which is about a 30-minute drive from the main town of Nikko. The viewpoint is located near Yumoto Onsen, and you can park in the designated parking areas. Note that there is no entrance fee to access the viewpoint.
Public Transportation
From Tokyo, take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen to Utsunomiya Station (approximately 1 hour). At Utsunomiya Station, transfer to the JR Nikko Line and take a train to Nikko Station (approximately 45 minutes). Once in Nikko, take a bus from Nikko Station to Yumoto Onsen (approximately 30 minutes). The bus runs regularly, but check the schedule for the latest times. Upon arriving at Yumoto Onsen, it is a short walk to the Lake Yunoko Viewpoint. There is no entrance fee to access the viewpoint. Total cost for this journey can vary, but expect around ¥6,000 for the train and bus combined.
