Icicles of Misotsuchi Travel Guide

The Icicles of Misotsuchi are a breathtaking winter attraction in the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, Saitama Prefecture. These natural icicles, one of Chichibu's three great icicle formations, are created by spring water that trickles over rocks and freezes in the frigid winter temperatures. The result is a stunning display of ice art, with icicles reaching up to 10 meters in height and 30 meters in width.The Misotsuchi Icicles offer a magical experience, especially when illuminated at night with colored lights that represent the four seasons of Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park. Visitors can view the icicles from either side of the Arakawa River, with the north side being more accessible. The south side, near Tsuchiuchi Camping Ground, features even larger, though partially man-made, icicles.The best time to visit is from mid-January to mid-February, when the icicles are at their peak.
