Tsutenkaku Tower, meaning "Tower Reaching Heaven", is more than just an observation deck; it's a symbol of Osaka's resilience and vibrant spirit. The original tower, inspired by the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, was erected in 1912 as part of the Shinsekai entertainment district, complete with the Luna Park amusement park. Damaged by fire in 1943 and dismantled during World War II, it was rebuilt in 1956 thanks to local support. The current tower, designed by Tachu Naito (who also designed Tokyo Tower), stands at 103 meters and offers stunning panoramic views of Osaka from its observation decks. Inside, visitors can explore exhibits on the tower's history, pay respects to Billiken, the god of good luck, and even take a thrilling ride down the Tower Slider. The surrounding Shinsekai district is a vibrant, retro neighborhood known for its colorful signboards, street food, and lively atmosphere. At night, Tsutenkaku is illuminated with colorful LED lights that change with the seasons, making it a dazzling sight. Whether you're enjoying the view from the top, exploring the shops and exhibits inside, or strolling through the lively streets of Shinsekai, Tsutenkaku Tower offers a unique and unforgettable Osaka experience.
