Getting There

  • By Car

    If you're driving from central Kyoto, take the Sanjo Street (Sanjo-dori) heading west towards Arashiyama. Continue on Sanjo-dori until you reach the intersection with Arashiyama Station. Turn left onto Arashiyama Street (Arashiyama-dori) and follow the signs to Arashiyama. The drive takes about 30 minutes depending on traffic. Note that there are several paid parking lots in Arashiyama, with rates typically around 800 to 1,200 yen for a half day. Be sure to arrive early, especially on weekends, as parking fills up quickly.

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR San-In Line to Saga-Arashiyama Station. This train ride takes approximately 20 minutes.
