Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Sanin Line (also known as the JR Sagano Line) towards Kameoka. Board a train that has 'Sagano' on its sign. The journey takes about 30 minutes to Saga-Arashiyama Station. Exit the station and walk to the bus stop outside. Take Bus No. 61 towards Kiyotaki. Ride the bus for about 15 minutes and get off at the 'Kiyotaki' stop. The bus fare is around 230 yen. From Kiyotaki, follow the walking path along the river for approximately 20 minutes to Rankyo Gorge.

    From Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, head south toward the Togetsukyo Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass through Sagano and see signs for Rankyo Gorge. The walk is approximately 15-20 minutes.
