Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from the Kyoto countryside, head towards Kyoto city center. Use Route 1 or Route 162 to reach the city. Once in Kyoto, follow signs for 'Kamigyo Ward' or use a GPS device to navigate to the address: 3 Kyotogyoen, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto, 602-0881. There is parking available near the garden, but note that parking fees may apply, typically around 500-1000 yen for a few hours.

• Public Transportation - Train

  From any location in the Kyoto countryside, make your way to your nearest train station that connects to the JR lines. Take the JR Kyoto Line to Kyoto Station. From Kyoto Station, transfer to the Karasuma Subway Line and travel to Marutamachi Station. Exit the station and walk approximately 10 minutes north to reach Kyoto Gyoen National Garden, following signs for the garden.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  If you prefer to take a bus, locate the nearest bus stop in the Kyoto countryside that offers services towards Kyoto city. Board a bus heading to Kyoto Station or Karasuma. Once you arrive at either station, switch to local buses that stop at 'Kyoto Gyoen' or 'Marutamachi' bus stops. The bus fare usually ranges from 230-300 yen depending on your starting point.
