Experience Kenninji Temple

Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Kyoto Station, head towards the Karasuma Exit. From there, take the Karasuma Subway Line towards Kokusaikaikan. Get off at Shijo Station (about 5 stops). Exit the station and walk straight down Shijo Street for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Higashiōji-dōri. Turn left onto Higashiōji-dōri and continue walking for about 5 minutes. You will see Kenninji Temple on your right at Komatsucho 584.

  • Bus

    From Kyoto Station, take the City Bus #100 or #206 heading towards Gion. Get off at the Gion bus stop. Once off the bus, walk towards the main street (Shijo Street) and take a right. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with Higashiōji-dōri. Turn left, and you will find Kenninji Temple on your right at Komatsucho 584 after about a 5-minute walk.

  • Taxi

    If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from your location to Kenninji Temple. Just tell the driver 'Kenninji Temple' or show them the address: Komatsucho 584, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto. The ride should take about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic.
