Getting There

  • Bus

    From Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Yamato-Saidaiji Station. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Yamato-Saidaiji Station, exit the station and find the bus stop for the Kintetsu bus. Take the bus bound for Ujitawara and get off at the Shoju-in bus stop. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. From the bus stop, it's a short 5-minute walk to Shoju-in (Furin-ji).

  • Train and Bus

    Begin at Nara Station and take the JR Nara Line to Uji Station. This train ride takes about 30 minutes. After arriving at Uji Station, follow signs to the bus terminal and board a bus heading to Kawakami-Okuyamada. Get off at the Shoju-in stop. The bus ride will take around 20 minutes. From there, it's a quick 5-minute walk to Shoju-in (Furin-ji).

  • Walking from Uji Station

    If you prefer a longer walk, you can walk from Uji Station to Shoju-in (Furin-ji). Head northeast from Uji Station towards the Uji River. Follow the river bank for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the entrance to Shoju-in. This scenic route will take approximately 30 minutes on foot.
