Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Nara city center. Take Route 169 heading east, and then merge onto Route 24. Follow the signs for Kasuganocho. The parking area for Wakakusayama Hill is located near the base of the hill. Note that parking might incur a small fee (around 500 yen per day). From the parking area, you can access the hiking trail that leads to the top of the hill.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Wakakusayama Hill using public transportation, take the Kintetsu Nara Line from Nara Station to Kintetsu Nara Station. Upon arriving at Kintetsu Nara Station, exit the station and head toward the bus terminal. Take the Nara Kotsu Bus on route 70, which goes to Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Get off at the Kasuga Taisha Shrine stop. From there, follow the signs to Wakakusayama Hill (approximately a 20-minute uphill walk). Make sure to check the bus schedule as buses may not run frequently.

• Walking

  For those already in the vicinity of Kasuganocho, you can walk to Wakakusayama Hill. If you are near Kasuga Taisha Shrine, simply follow the path leading up the hill. The hike is roughly 30 minutes and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
