Car
If you are traveling by car, start from central Nikko. Head southwest on Route 119. Continue for approximately 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Route 461. Turn left onto Route 461 and drive for another 5 minutes. You will see signs indicating the direction to Taro Sugi Japanese Cedar Tree. The tree is located at 1112 Kamihatsuishimachi, which has a small parking area nearby. Note that parking may incur a small fee, typically around ¥500.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, begin your journey at Nikko Station. Take the bus bound for Kamihatsuishimachi. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Kamihatsuishimachi bus stop, the Taro Sugi Japanese Cedar Tree is a short 10-minute walk from the stop. Follow the signs toward the tree, which is clearly marked. Be sure to check the bus schedule to return, as services may be limited in the evening.
