Getting There

  • Walking

    From JR Nagano Station, exit from the Zenkōji Exit and head northwest on Chuo-dori street. Follow this street for approximately 30 minutes. You will pass the Niomon Gate before reaching the Sammon Gate. The gate will be directly in front of you before entering the main temple area.

  • Public Transport

    From Nagano Station, take any bus departing from bus stop #1, located in front of the Zenkōji Exit of Nagano Station. All buses from this stop go to Zenkōji Temple. Get off at any of the bus stops with 'Zenkōji' in their names. From the bus stop, walk towards the temple. The Sammon Gate will be visible before entering the main temple area. Bus fare is approximately ¥190.

  • Driving

    From the Nagano Interchange (IC) or Suzaka-Nagano-Higashi IC, it takes approximately 40 minutes by car to reach Zenkōji Temple. There are several parking lots around Zenkōji Temple. Parking fees are generally around ¥500.
