The Maiko Marine Promenade, opened on April 5, 1998, is a unique observation facility built within the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the world's longest suspension bridge. Situated on the Kobe side of the bridge, this 317-meter-long promenade offers visitors a chance to walk 47 meters above the sea and 150 meters from the land, providing breathtaking views of the Akashi Strait and surrounding areas. The promenade features a circuit-style walkway with glass-enclosed sections, allowing visitors to look out across the water. For those seeking a thrill, the "log-bridge," a section with a transparent glass floor, offers a unique perspective of the ocean directly below. The 8th-floor observation lounge provides a relaxing space to enjoy the scenery, complete with a camera system that simulates the view from the top of the bridge's 300-meter-high main tower. On the first floor, visitors can find information materials and a DVD system that explain the history and construction of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. Tom's Cafe, located within the promenade, offers a variety of dishes using local Akashi ingredients, providing a relaxing spot to enjoy the views. The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, nicknamed "Pearl Bridge" due to its nighttime illumination, connects Kobe to Awaji Island and is a sight to behold.
