Car
From Owari, get on the Tōmei Expressway (東名高速道路) heading north. Follow the expressway for about 2 hours until you reach the Utsunomiya interchange (宇都宮IC). Take the exit towards Nikko (日光) and merge onto the Nikko Utsunomiya Road (日光宇都宮道路). Continue on this road for approximately 30 minutes until you reach Nikko. Once in Nikko, follow the signs to Nikkō Tōshogū, which is located at 2301 Sannai, Nikko, Tochigi 321-1431. Parking is available nearby, and there may be a parking fee of around 500 yen.
Public Transportation
Start by taking a train from Owari to Nagoya Station (名古屋駅). From Nagoya Station, board the Tōhoku Shinkansen (東北新幹線) to Utsunomiya Station (宇都宮駅). This journey takes about 50 minutes. At Utsunomiya Station, transfer to the JR Nikko Line (JR日光線) and take a train to Nikko Station (日光駅). The total travel time from Nagoya to Nikko is approximately 2.5 hours. Once you arrive at Nikko Station, you can either walk (about 30 minutes) or take a local bus (Bus No. 2) to Nikkō Tōshogū. The bus fare is around 300 yen.
