It exhibits over 50 retired trains, from the earliest steam locomotives to the cutting-edge Shinkansen bullet trains, on a 30,000 square meter site.The museum is divided into several exhibition zones, including the Main Hall, which features a three-story building completed in 2016, the Roundhouse built in 1914, and the Former Nijo Station. Inside, you'll find a vast collection of railway uniforms, tools, and other railway paraphernalia. One of the highlights is Japan's largest diorama, where miniature trains are controlled by a skilled operator. Interactive exhibits allow visitors to experience the duties of a train conductor or drive a train simulator.Don't miss the roundhouse with its turntable from 1914, which displays Japan's largest collection of well-preserved steam locomotives. For an additional fee, you can take a short journey on a train powered by a steam locomotive. The museum also features the Nijo Station Building, relocated from nearby Nijo Station, offering a glimpse into early 20th-century railway architecture.
