Ōsugi no Sono is a tranquil park created in memory of the celebrated Japanese singer Misora Hibari. It is situated adjacent to the Sugi no Ōsugi, a massive and ancient Japanese cedar. Misora Hibari, as a young performer named Misora Kazue, survived a bus accident in Otoyo and prayed to the Sugi no Ōsugi for success. After recovering, she returned to the tree to express her gratitude and renewed her vow. The park features a monument inscribed with the lyrics of her signature song, "Kawa no Nagare no Yo Ni (Like the Flow of the River)". Visitors can activate a sound system to play this and two other songs: "Kanashii Kuchibue (Sad Whistle)" and "Ryoma Zanei (Ryoma's Lingering Image)". The park also includes a statue of Hibari as a 14-year-old, commemorating her visit to Otoyo. The Sugi no Ōsugi itself is a sight to behold. Estimated to be over 3,000 years old, the tree is comprised of two cedar trees joined at the base, known as the South Ōsugi and North Ōsugi. It is considered a sacred tree and a symbol of Otoyo.
