Car

From your location in Shima, take Route 260 towards Tsu City. Follow the signs for Route 42 to Izumo. Once you reach Izumo, continue on Route 9 until you see the signs for Kawashimocho. Follow the signs to Kawashimocho where you will find the port for Tairajima Island. Parking is available near the port, but be aware that parking fees may apply.

Public Transportation - Train and Ferry

Start by taking a train from Shima to Izumo via the Kintetsu line. Once you arrive at Izumo station, transfer to a local bus heading towards Kawashimocho. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Kawashimocho, you will need to walk to the ferry terminal, which is about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop. Purchase a ferry ticket to Tairajima Island at the terminal. Be sure to check the ferry schedule in advance as it may vary depending on the season.

Public Transportation - Bus

Alternatively, you can take a highway bus from Shima directly to Izumo. Check the schedule for departures. Once you arrive at Izumo Bus Terminal, take a local bus towards Kawashimocho, which departs frequently. After arriving at Kawashimocho, walk to the ferry terminal, purchase a ticket, and board the ferry to Tairajima Island. Ensure you have cash for the bus and ferry fares.
