Car
If you are driving, head towards Hiraizumi, Iwate Prefecture. From the Tohoku Expressway, take the Hiraizumi IC exit. Follow Route 4 towards Hiraizumi. Once you arrive in Hiraizumi, look for signs directing you to Chuson-ji. The temple is located at Koromonoseki-202, Hiraizumi, Nishiiwai District, Iwate 029-4195. There is parking available on-site (costs around 300 yen).
Train and Bus
To reach Chuson-ji using public transportation, take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen to Ichinoseki Station. From Ichinoseki Station, transfer to the JR Kesennuma Line and get off at Hiraizumi Station. At Hiraizumi Station, catch a local bus heading towards Chuson-ji (the bus ride takes about 10 minutes and costs around 300 yen). The bus will drop you off near the entrance of the temple.
Walking from Hiraizumi Station
If you prefer to walk from Hiraizumi Station, it is about a 30-minute walk to Chuson-ji. Head south on Route 4 and follow the signs to the temple. The route is mostly flat, making it a pleasant stroll through the scenic area.
