Car
If you are driving to Lake Towada, you can start from Aomori City, which is about 100 km away. Take the Tōhoku Expressway (Aomori Expressway) toward Towada. Exit at the Towada Interchange. From the interchange, follow Route 102 toward Lake Towada, which is well-signposted. The drive should take approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic. Be prepared to pay tolls on the expressway, which typically cost around 1,000-2,000 yen.
Public Transportation - Train and Bus
To reach Lake Towada via public transportation, take the JR Tōhoku Line from your current location to Hachinohe Station. From Hachinohe, transfer to the Towada Kanko Bus Line. Take the bus heading to Lake Towada, which operates several times a day. The bus ride takes about 1.5 hours. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as services may vary. A one-way bus ticket costs approximately 1,500 yen.
Public Transportation - Bus from Aomori
If you are in Aomori City, you can take a direct bus to Lake Towada. The bus departs from Aomori Station and takes around 2 hours to reach the lake. The bus is operated by the Towada Kanko Bus Company and runs several times a day. A one-way ticket costs about 2,000 yen. Ensure you check the timetable ahead of your travel date to avoid long waits.
