Getting There

Car
If you're driving from the city of Hachinohe, take the Tohoku Expressway and head towards Morioka. Exit at the Hachimantai IC (Interchange). Once you exit, follow Route 282 towards Hachimantai. Continue on this road for approximately 30 km until you reach Matsukawa Gorge, located in Hachimantai, Iwate 028-7302. There is parking available near the site, where you can stop and enjoy the scenic views.

Public Transportation - Train & Bus
Start by taking the Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Morioka Station (approximately 2.5 hours). From Morioka Station, transfer to the Iwate Galaxy Railway and take a train to Hachimantai Station (about 45 minutes). Once you arrive at Hachimantai Station, exit and look for the local bus service that goes to Matsukawa Gorge. The bus ride will take around 30 minutes. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited, especially on weekends.

For those already in Morioka, you can take a direct bus from Morioka Station to Hachimantai. The bus takes about 1 hour and drops you off near Matsukawa Gorge. Ensure to verify the bus schedule ahead of your trip, as it may not run frequently. Once you arrive, it’s a short walk to the gorge.
