Tokyo Prefecture Hall Civic Plaza: A Serene Oasis Amidst the Urban Jungle

Getting There

• Subway

  If you are starting from Shinjuku Station, take the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line. Board the train bound for Ikebukuro. After just one stop, get off at Nishi-Shinjuku Station. From the station, take the exit that leads to the west exit. Once you exit, walk straight ahead for about 5 minutes, and you will see the Tokyo Prefecture Hall Civic Plaza on your right.

• Bus

  From Shinjuku Station, you can also take a bus. Head to the bus terminal outside the East exit of Shinjuku Station. Look for the bus line heading toward the 'Tokyo Metropolitan Government' or 'Tocho-mae' stop. The ride will take around 10 minutes. Once you get off at Tocho-mae, the Civic Plaza will be directly in front of you.

• Walking

  If you are near the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, you can walk to the Tokyo Prefecture Hall Civic Plaza. Exit the garden and head towards Shinjuku Street. Walk straight along Shinjuku Street for about 15 minutes; the Civic Plaza will be on your left after crossing the intersection with Yasukuni Dori.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hail a taxi from anywhere in Tokyo. Just tell the driver 'Tokyo Metropolitan Government' (東京都庁, Tōkyō-tochō) or show them the address: '2 Chome-8-1 Nishishinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 163-8001'. The ride will typically take about 15-30 minutes depending on traffic.
